Eligibility

International applicants must meet all of the following requirements
  • He or she has graduated or will graduate from his or her secondary education by August 31st, 2012.
  • He or she is not a citizen of Korea.

* For Fall 2012 Admissions, international applicants whose parent is a Korean citizen CAN apply for International Admissions regardless of parent’s nationality.

* Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are not eligible to apply as foreign students.

KAIST Scholarship

KAIST provides full scholarship (tuition and fees) and monthly allowances for all admitted students who are not financially supported by government or organization. Monthly allowances will be around 200,000 ~ 350,000KRW.

4. Letters of Recommendation
  • Two recommendation letters are required. One from homeroom teacher and the other from math or science teacher. Download both forms from admissions web site.
  • Your teachers may send their recommendation letter directly to the admissions office. Letters should be signed and sealed across the back of an official envelope by the recommenders.
  • Photocopied or printed copies are not allowed.

5. Diploma(Graduation Certificate)
  • If you are expected to graduate before August 31, 2012, you should submit official certificate of Expected Graduation from your school. When you get admitted to KAIST, you should submit an original or certified graduation certificate to Admissions Office.

  • Transcripts with year by year record of classes which the applicant has taken along with the grades.

  • SAT2, ACT, AP, IB, GCE A-Level, University entrance exam, etc.

  • Candidates whose native language is English are exempt from submitting the EPT certificate. Candidates whose official language is NOT English are NOT exempt from submitting the EPT certificate.

Preparation Tips:

  • Submitted documents will NOT be returned in any case. Keep a copy of the completed form in case the materials get lost in the mail. Your teachers should do the same.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Once you complete filing out the online application, you will be asked to pay the application fee. You may choose to pay with a credit card (VISA/MASTER) or via bank transfer. Credit card payment is much easier but in case you have to use bank transfer, the directions will be given at the end of the online application procedure.
  • After paying the application fee, you will not be able to modify your application or get a refund. Thus, carefully check what you have filled in before paying the application fee.
  • When asked to submit original documents, you must submit original documents. A duplicate should be authenticated with the seal of the issuing institution. Simply photocopied documents are not considered valid.
  • All documents should be translated in English or Korean. The translated copy should have a seal of the institution as well.
  • It is strongly recommended that all required documents should be typed instead of handwritten.
  • Official Test Score Reports such as SAT1, SAT2, ACT, GCE A-Level, IB, AP, NCEA, high school leaving exam, university entrance exam, or other nationally/internationally recognized exam results should be submitted. You may attach a separate sheet to explain the exam procedure, competition rate, result, etc.
  • All three TOEIC score reports (Listening & Reading, Speaking, Writing) should be submitted. 
  • After completing your online application, print out the completed form and the document checklist. Arrange documents in the order shown in the table above. Please use clips to bind the contents and do not staple. The checklist should be on top.
  • If any of the submitted materials contain false information, admission may be rescinded. Applicants whose forms and supporting documents are incomplete or improper will be disqualified from the admissions process.
  • The application number should be kept for further procedure such as checking the final decision.
  • Make sure to visit the admissions website for document arrival check (June 8th ~ July 4th). We will not contact you individually.
  • Admitted students may not defer enrollment to a later semester. Students who wish to defer enrollment must reapply.
