KAIST Collaborative Excellence Scholarship

The KAIST Collaborative Excellence Scholarship is a prestigious program established through agreements between KAIST and various external organizations. This scholarship aims to support outstanding international students who exhibit academic excellence and strong potential for collaborative research and innovation. Below, you will find each program option's eligibility requirements and benefits available under the KAIST Collaborative Excellence Scholarship.


Global Educational Program for Samsung Semiconductor (Global EPSS)

  • Departments Accepting Applications: Electrical Engineering
  • Admission Periods: Fall Regular Track only
  • Degree Offered: Master’s or Ph.D.
  • Research Areas: Semiconductor design, devices and processes, and related software in the memory and system LSI (circuits)
  • Eligibility Requirements: Students from top universities in Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam only
  • Benefits:
    • Full tuition coverage
    • Year-specific monthly stipends: ranging from $1,000 USD to $1,500 USD
    • One-time scholarship for Ph.D.: KRW 3,000,000
    • Samsung internship
    • Guaranteed employment at Samsung Electronics
  • Detail:
    • Submit an application to KAIST international graduate admission and specify 'Global EPSS' under Financial Resource.
    • Submitted applications will be transferred to Samsung Electronics for a job interview.
    • Successful graduates are guaranteed employment at Samsung Electronics with mandatory employment for a minimum period corresponding to twice the total years supported by Samsung.

    • Departments Accepting Applications: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
    • Admission Periods: Fall Regular Track only
    • Degree Offered: Master’s or Ph.D.
    • Research Areas: Batteries, Chemical Engineering
    • Eligibility Requirements: Only students from top universities in Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
    • Benefits:
      • KAIST Tuition Fee: Full Support
      • Stipend
      •         For M.S. course, $ 11,000 a year (for 2 years)

                For Ph.D. course $ 13,200 a year (1st year)~ $19,200 a year (4th year)

                Additional Subsidy: Monthly $ 220

    International Nuclear and Radiation Safety Master’s Degree Program (KINS-KAIST)

    • Departments Accepting Applications: International Nuclear and Radiation Safety Master’s Degree Program

    • Research Areas: Nuclear and Radiation Safety
    • Eligibility Requirements: This program is intended for employees in the nuclear and radiation fields with a bachelor's degree or higher from IAEA member countries. Applicants must submit an official letter of recommendation issued by their current workplace as a mandatory document.
    • Benefits: Application fee, tuition for 3 semesters, round-trip airfare, monthly scholarship (1,200,000 KRW), Korean National Insurance fees
    • Details: The KINS-KAIST International Nuclear and Radiation Safety Master's Degree Program aims to educate and train overseas professionals in nuclear and radiation safety, with a focus on regulation. This program, a joint initiative by the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), has been running since 2009. The International Nuclear Safety School (INSS) at KINS administers the program in collaboration with KAIST's Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering. The program lasts approximately one and a half years and awards a Certificate of Completion from KINS and an Engineering Master's Degree from KAIST upon fulfilling the requirements.

    RCA-KAIST Master’s Degree Program (RCA-KAIST)

    • Departments Accepting Applications: Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering
    • Admission Periods: Spring only
    • Degree Offered: Master’s
    • Research Areas: Peaceful Use of Energy Generated by Nuclear Fission and Fusion Reactions (Electric Power, Desalination, District Heating, Propulsion, etc.), Nuclear Fuel Cycle, Nuclear Security and Nonproliferation, Nuclear Policy, Radiation Science and Technology, Radiation Applications, Radiation Medical Imaging, Radiation Devices
    • Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must have graduated from a 4-year academic institution (or equivalent) and have a BA (Bachelor of Arts) or equivalent degree. Applicants must submit an official letter of recommendation issued by the National RCA Representative of their country.
    • Benefits: Application fee, tuition for 4 semesters, one-way airfare, monthly stipend (1,000,000 KRW)
    • Details: The RCA-KAIST Master’s Degree is designed to educate and train high-caliber students from the RCA Member States with the aim to preserve and enhance nuclear technology for RCA Member States. Graduates of the program contribute to the development of nuclear and radiation technology in their respective countries by working in government-supported R&D institutions, government-funded enterprises, universities, etc. as elite leaders. This program has been in place since March 2003. Completing the program typically takes two years, during which students must obtain 33 credits.
